USMLE Step 1 is one of four exams taken by students seeking to practice medicine in the United Sates. It is focused on basic medical science, epidemiology, and medical ethics.
It's composed of seven sections, each section consists of 40-multiple choice question for a total of 280 questions. There is one hour allotted for each section. One minute and thirty seconds for each question. With breaks it takes approximately 8 hours to complete the exam.
